Untitled[edit]

Možemo stavit i pjesmu "Ciciban". Otprilike je jednako poetična i vrijedna. :) Jakiša Tomić 22:59, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Translation[edit]

Dr Gonzo, I must say I like Joy's original translation better. Maybe it wad tad less literal, but at least it had a rhythm. The original Croatian lyrics are difficult to parse anyway, so I don't think too literal translation is called for. Duja 00:56, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Polish anthem[edit]

Is the anthem in any way related with the anthem of Poland Dąbrowski's Mazurka or is the similarity purely coincidental?

No. "Hej Slaveni", anthem of former Yugoslavia sounds like anthem of Poland. This song has no connection with Polish anthem. What is similarity you are talking about? Jakiša Tomić 10:25, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see now. I think that is coincidental. There is similarity only in first few lines. Jakiša Tomić 10:27, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt it's coincidental—authors of the time apparently liked to copy each other :-). At least the leading verses were likely overwritten from Polish anthem (although I don't have sources to prove). Duja 11:20, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you are right. If we compare him with Stanko Vraz, Gaj wasn't good poet at all. He was enthusiast and politician. Jakiša Tomić 12:49, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
