Mike Krzyzewski[edit]

Mike Krzyzewski has a whole section in his book, Leading With the Heart, about his friendship with Jim Valvano. Yet Krzyzewski isn't metioned once in this article. "Coach K" spent as much time as Jimmy V's family at his hospital bed. In this section he tells a very inspirational story about Jimmy V that hardly anybody knows about. Mike Krzyzewski invited Jim Valvano to Duke's practice. After the practice Jimmy V said something that made every single member of one of the greatest college basketball teams of all time cry. He said: “Life changes when you least expect it to. The future is uncertain. So, seize this day, seize this moment, and make the most of it.” I think that this story should be mentioned in this article.
