Questionable inferences[edit]

The exchange, "You'll never get to the Hall of Fame with mechanics like that"/"I'm already in the Hall of Fame" is cute, but the idea that the coach didn't recognize Palmer is unlikely at best. Palmer's throwing motion was, and still is, instantly recognizable to any baseball fan (he would basically assume the form of an X, front leg going straight forward as his right arm popped way back, then almost cartwheel forward into the pitch). The coach knew perfectly well who he was talking to. If the coach had truly wished to comment on an unknown pitcher's form, he would have said something like "you'll never get to the majors" instead! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.226.214.244 (talk) 14:25, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rivalry[edit]

Via Google Bard,
Jim Palmer vs. Nolan Ryan (1970-1980): These two Cy Young Award winners faced each other 29 times in their careers, with Palmer winning 16 games and Ryan winning 13. Palmer was the more successful pitcher during their rivalry, winning three Cy Young Awards to Ryan's two.
