And then?[edit]

Soooooo what happened to them? Were they ultimatley killed? --AnYoNe! 13:51, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Usually. -- Avi (talk) 17:46, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, they weren't. Don't just make stuff up. --41.151.36.116 (talk) 07:56, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In Israel[edit]

I believe they weren't punished in Israel, which isn't obvious.Xx236 (talk) 07:30, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. They weren't punished. The state of Izreal has created the law. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.25.115.58 (talk) 12:44, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Overbroad generalization[edit]

This brief article paints way too broad a picture of an extremely complex situation. Max Kaufmann, a survivor of the Riga ghetto, viewed the Latvian Ghetto police as heroes, and, by the way, they were all murdered by the Germans in October 1942 for organizing a rebellion. So substantial additional research is necessary. Mtsmallwood (talk) 00:24, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Structure and equipment[edit]

Some information on structure and equipment like the arms they used, would be required. --41.151.5.2 (talk) 16:18, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Would be required for "what?" If you see a hole in the content, please feel free to add some (referenced) text. Ckruschke (talk) 19:57, 17 December 2012 (UTC)Ckruschke[reply]

equipment and arms[edit]

What's the evidence for the statement that Ghetto police was not armed? --41.145.147.46 (talk) 15:11, 9 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

March 2019 edit[edit]

Preserving here by providing this link. My rationale was that the article was poorly put together.

  • For example, the first para was cited to The Warsaw Ghetto: The Journal Of Emmanuel Ringelblum, while discussing the Ghetto Police in general terms. This needs a secondary source, which should be plenty.
  • The second para had the appearance of being copied from another article: "The Jüdischer Ordnungsdienst were recruited from two separate groups, who could be relied upon to follow German orders. (...) The first commander of the Warsaw ghetto was Józef Szeryński...". This apparently describes the police in Warsaw ghetto, not the ghetto police in general.
  • Third para: "The criminal elements in the Ordnungsdienst soon came to dominate several areas of life in the ghetto, notably the transportation of people and goods." -- this is uncited and also appears to describe the Warsaw ghetto.

Etc. --K.e.coffman (talk) 21:37, 13 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

All these reasons are still valid - and the see also links are unneeded also. I agree with these changes, and would need to see actual reliable secondary sources that discuss the ghetto police throughout all the ghettos, rather than primary sources that only discuss the Warsaw Ghetto. organized within the Jewish ghettos[edit]

They were orgnized by Judenrats before or during ghettoisation.Xx236 (talk) 12:05, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"also called the Jewish Police by Jews"[edit]

This is inaccurate. The Jews didn't use the expression "the Jewish Police" because they didn't speak English. They spoke Yiddish and Polish. Xx236 (talk) 09:06, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Somebody wants to hide this shameful history of Jewish collaboration. No way![edit]

Somebody wants to hide this shameful history of Jewish collaboration. No way! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomsmith81727 (talkcontribs) 14:26, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No, we want to abide by the Wikipedia policies that prevent making generalized statements about all ghetto police from a primary source that only relates to one particular ghetto's police force. This has been pointed out above, where it needs to be discussed. If we were trying to hide the existence of ghetto police forces, the article would not exist. No one is trying to remove this article - just make it conform to wikipedia policies. Ealdgyth - Talk 14:32, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New Book about it[edit]

Quote:

Katarzyna Person, a historian at the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw, who has written an award-winning book, Policjanci (Policemen), on the Jewish ghetto police, to be published in English next year.

so 2021 I presume.

It is already published in Polish.

Expansion[edit]

Hi Folks!! It is a very small article. It could do with another 20-40k to try and show concrete examples of what life was like under the police. 21:56, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
