RS[edit]

@Nikkimaria: Why do you feel 'Find a grave' is not a RS for purposes of citing the date of death and place of burial? -- Gwillhickers (talk) 18:10, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Per multiple discussions at WP:RSN. See also Wikipedia:External_links/Perennial_websites#Find-a-Grave. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:20, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for looking out. I found another source that's adequate. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 02:32, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cited Internet source no longer exists[edit]

Greetings, @Gwillhickers: I am not a prolific Wikipedia editor and apologize if I am using the Talk section incorrectly. I noticed that the Internet source no longer exists that is cited in the last sentence of the Early Life section, "After recovering he returned to Ohio and the tannery business." And I wasn't sure what to do about it. The reference is # 16, U.S.Grant.com, Essay & Timeline, which itself links to an in-page bibliographic source of "'Jesse Grant (1794–1873), Essay and Timeline'. USGrant.com. 2017. Retrieved February 13, 2017," which links to a page at a presidentusgrant.com domain. However, that link now resolves in a 404 error (Page Not Found). Also, the domain usgrant.com links to a winery's website. Apologies for having no idea what to do about this except to attempt to bring it to an expert contributor's attention. @IseFire: I found the presidentusgrant.com article in the Wayback Machine and added an archive url to the reference template. The archived version of the article should be now be available to readers of the Wikipedia article.

That's great! Apologies for the insanely long delay in acknowledging your update. It has been many months since I logged into this account. IseFire (talk) 19:14, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
