JLDS kicked out of Hotel C[edit]

" and has retained it until today, save for a brief period in the early 1990's, (when it was stripped of this honor following the exposure of an established sexual contest amongst Jefferson Society members)"

First, JLDS has been kicked out of Hotel C several times before, most notably when the building was used as a Confederate hospital, but also during various renovations. Second, the BOV cited the organization's violation of the school's alcohol policy as the reason for its dismissal from the building for a semester -- not a "sexual contest." (For anyone interested, the BOV concluded that the initial accusations of sexual impropriety were exaggerated and largely unfounded. The concluded that one member in particular acted inappropriately toward a female member, and they agreed with the group's assertion that the leadership sufficiently punished him on their own.)
