Where could you get it[edit]

It was a commercially available game. So, generally, any computer game store. I note that it generally was skipped over by the gaming community. Lots of full-page ads, no reviews. I didn't have too many problems finding a copy, but the lack of reviews probably led to a fair number of stores not ordering it at all. Rindis 20:47, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If you cannot find a copy of the game, and resort to downloading it (which, legally speaking, you shouldn't), be sure to get a full, unstripped version. The game comes on two CDs, both of which have a few audio tracks with remixed versions of some music from Jeff Wayne's Musical Version. Nice stuff. Compatability[edit]

I've just altered a paragraph in the 'impact' subsection just to highlight some of JW'sWOTW compatability issues with Windows XP. I apologise if a couple of the phrases seem like weasel words and if there's information to the contrary that I've not been made aware of. As far as I know this is accurate (in regards to the Dosbox compatability and/or patch). But please feel free to post here if I've missed something or made a mistake. It's a windows game. How does DOSbox even enter into it? Besides, without reliable sources (which forums, IRC, etc. are definately not), it's original research. I know there's no sources as it is (and I started the article years ago, so I'm just as guilty in many places), but that doesn't excuse more unsourced info.--Drat (Talk) 02:04, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gibberish[edit]

I plan to split this article[edit]

The PC and PlayStation games based on Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds are completely different. The PC game is a real-time strategy, whereas the PlayStation game is a third-person shooter and vehicular combat game. They use the same music, and many of the same models and textures, but that's where the similarity ends. According to Wikipedia:Notability_(video_games), the PlayStation game is notable enough for an article of its own. I'm going to create one, and rewrite the current article to focus solely on the PC game. Any objections or contributions would be welcome.

I have one problem: the two games have exactly the same title, which is probably why they were conflated into the same article in the first place. Since the PC game was released in 1998 and the PlayStation game was released in 1999, I'm not sure if this article should be split into
Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds (1998 video game) and Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds (1999 video game)
or
Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds (PC) and Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds (PlayStation)

This article was initially a mixture of both, but now I've split off the section on the 1999 video game and expanded it into a full article.
