Named after?[edit]

Is Jay Cooke State Park named after this guy? I can't find any direct evidence except that the park is related to railroads and was owned by the st.louis power company, and this guy lived in that city. This article gives a little help [1] -Ravedave 04:15, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Going there[edit]

I'm going to this park on May 27th, I will attempt to get some good pics (here's hoping its sunny!). Does anyone have any reccomendations on what to see? -Ravedave 02:52, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Grand Portage of the St. Louis[edit]

Thanks to User:Gandydancer, there's probably enough info and background to split the Grand Portage of the St. Louis River into its own article. It's individually listed on the NRHP and notable in its own right. Anyone opposed? -McGhiever (talk) 15:54, 22 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I suppose... But, I'd rather not... But I'm open to a change of mind. I love this little state park, both the history and the geology (and I am working right now on improving the geology section), and the CCC buildings, and of course the mind-blowing trilliums in the spring, and so on and on. I've used all the info that I can find for the portage section, do you know where we can find more? And, BTW, it is SO GOOD to have another editor join me here (where I've felt pretty much alone)! Photo[edit]

I have returned the historic photo. According to our article, "Above Carlton travelers proceeded upstream and continued on to Lake Vermilion and the Rainy River Basin." This photo was taken in the Rainy River Basin and fits this article very well. As a compromise I did not return the mention of the modern day state parks.
