Is the Subway story true?

This man is a criminal and a liar. Do we still believe the story about losing weight at subway? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.209.154.235 (talk) 23:35, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

Soemone just deleted what I wrote above. I'm not trying to make this a forum. I'm trying to make the article better. It's just that the article writes his losing weight by eating Subway story as if it's all true. Is there actually any proof that it is? Maybe it could just be better written as a claim, not absolute truth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.209.154.235 (talk) 00:16, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not stating it as "absolute truth". This article says his weight loss was 'attributed' to Subway, which is indisputable. Further mention outside the lead is also suitably qualified. Marteau (talk) 11:27, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Scot

I could not find direction toward a reference supporting 'Scot' being Jared's middle name so I have fact-tagged it. Can someone locate a reference that supports this if it is true? Ranze (talk) 19:32, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

  • @Ranze: The federal BOP lists him as "Jared S Fogle" WhisperToMe (talk) 11:03, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
    • That hints at correctness, but for all I know it's Smithers so we should probably still find a source. Ranze (talk) 00:51, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

new information

Since the article is indefinitely protected .... can someone please add the latest information as to how Fogle was secretly recorded for 4 years before he was nabbed. Here is the reference: http://myfox8.com/2015/10/31/jared-fogles-alleged-disturbing-request-to-mom-of-young-kids/ 96.41.32.39 (talk) 03:27, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

I see the article mentions a 1.4 million dollar fine, being $100,000 for each 'victim'. But it does not mention the extent of the victim's damages, what crime was perpetrated upon their person, & etc. If a fellow citizen is being put away for a decade plus, we as fellow citizens have a right to know the crime. I request more detail on the 14. (...) There are other issues with this article. How did it come to be that the psychiatrist's diagnosis has been made public information? Was it revealed at trial? [For there is such a thing as patient-Doctor confidentiality.] Further, giving his prison number is not proper. (This is again private, and completely unnecessary.) (John G. Lewis (talk) 19:19, 13 December 2015 (UTC))

1. They were minors that he had sex with.
2. The psychiatrist was a defense witness. They specifically asked her to testify on Jared's behalf.
3. The inmate number is public information. Doesn't seem worth mentioning outside an infobox, but whatever.

Prison attack

I wonder if the attack on Jared Fogle should be mentioned in the article:

Seems to me there should be something on it in the article. -- WV 15:14, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
Although I admit I found reading about Fogel getting beaten, satisfying, I don't think it's encyclopedic. People get into fights all the time in prison... unless there is something more to it, this is just prurient gossip. Marteau (talk) 16:01, 27 March 2016 (UTC)

Today, I visited the U.S. Bureau of Prisons website and looked up Jared Fogle on the inmate locator. His current location is still FCI- Englewood in Colorado, not FCI- Safford in Arizona.

Jared Scott Fogle[3] (/ˈfoʊɡəl/; born August 23, 1977)[1] is an American former spokesman for Subway restaurants and convicted sex offender. This should be "Jared Scott Fogle was an American former spokesman from Subway restaurants and a convicted sex offender. Please change this because I do not have the permissions to do so. RickyLol (talk) 03:29, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Yeah sorry for the confusion, what I mean to say was "Jared Scott Fogle is an former American spokesman for Subway restaurants and convicted sex offender." Reading it at first sounded weird because of the wording choice. I apologize for the confusion. RickyLol (talk) 05:04, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Not done. Moving "former" before "American" makes Fogle not American anymore, which is not the case. The wording sounds off, but if you think about it, it isn't.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 07:41, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Supervised release

This article mentions "supervised release" (parole), but doesn't tell the conditions of his parole. What are they? (Also, did Jared ever get AIDS? AIDS: You may be thinking of a South Park episode entitled 'Jared Has Aides' where pre-scandal Jared was thanking his health and diet aides, but the crowd thought he was talking about HIV and turned hostile. Bkatcher (talk) 01:39, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

Why was the lead sentence changed?

@Bluerules: Why did you you remove "...and convicted sex offender" from the opening sentence? The conviction is the defining moment of this man's life. And it's common practice to include something like that in the first sentence. For example, O.J. Simpson was much more famous for football than Fogle was for Subway commercials, and his page starts with "...and convicted felon." My first inclination was to just add it back, but I felt I should first ask your reasoning and, perhaps, seek consensus from a vet like Ganbaruby (talk · contribs). Please note, my intention is not to be accusatory. I just think that this is a pretty important edit for the page. Thank you. ~~Mattevt | Hit me upedits 03:36, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

"Convicted sex offender" is not an occupation and it's a redundant reference when his conviction is discussed by the third sentence. If his conviction was buried in the lede, I would understand wanting it referenced higher - the previous revision didn't mention his arrest until the third paragraph. But when I edited the lede, I made certain to move it up to the first paragraph to highlight its severity - and severity is made more clear by having it as the last sentence. It's the last thing that the reader sees from the opening paragraph.
In respect to "common practice" and the O.J. Simpson article, that falls under WP:OTHERSTUFF. We can't use other articles to decide what belongs and what doesn't because too many different editors write them. I don't agree with the "convicted felon" reference to Simpson, but I didn't write it. Bluerules (talk) 03:56, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
Fair enough, makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. ~~Mattevt | Hit me upedits 04:42, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
