CE vs. AD[edit]

I personally find the use of "Common Era" dating confusing. I actually had no idea what CE was until I did a little research. I think that the use of AD is much more widely recognized and thus easier to understand. I recommend replacing CE with AD. I don't know if Wikipedia has a standard mode of dating, but I couldn't find one. I think it is best though if the community maintains consistency with its use dating formats and from my experience that means using AD. Please discuss this though.

This has already been discussed at great length at WT:MOSNUM (search archives for "CE AD" or similar). The consensus is that each style is acceptable as long as it is used consistently in a single article, and that styles should not be changed needlessly within one article (more fully given at WP:ERA). Why isn't the Emperor on Japanese coins and banknotes?[edit]
