This article is a good but basic start. It is wrong in a couple of important biographical facts. Four years after his first wife, Fanny Fern (Sara Willis Parton) died in 1872, James married Fanny's daughter from her first marriage to Charles Eldridge. Also, Ethel was not his grand-daughter. She was adopted by James and Ellen after Ethel's parents, Grace (Ellen's full sister) and M. Thomson, died. James and Ellen had two children, Hugo and Mabel. Hugo's children (James Parton's actual grandchildren) were James Parton and Niké (pronounced Ni-KAY, not like the shoes) Parton. James Parton (1912-2000) was founder and publisher of American Heritage and Horizon Magazines. Niké Parton (1922-2005) was a prominent Florida artist. Jp3rd 16:42, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is Parton a popular read in current times?[edit]

Parton captured the extremes in the reputation of Pres.Andrew Jackson with real color, and this prompted me to wonder if he is generally a popular read in modern times. Is he assigned reading to students of the American presidency in undergraduate and graduate schools today?Charley sf (talk) 18:03, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
