College Athletes (and other alumni of significance)[edit]

Does anyone else think that the College Athletes section is a little out of control? Firstly, many of the athletes listed have not had grand achievements on the collegiate level. Why are we bothering to list them in this article? Especially when this list makes up more than half the article? Frankly, I don't think that any of these athletes are worth mentioning until they make some major headlines in a Vince Young/Reggie Bush/etc. fashion.

It does seem strange. --Timestopper 00:00, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

my goodness, take out the stupid athletes. if you want to know what kind of alumni you ought to list, look at phillips exeter and phillips andover's alumni page. --User:jimmydoerre3 00:00, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of lists of alumni, most articles choose to limit their relevant alumni to significant celebrities or policyworkers, and try to keep this list under ten. While I appreciate that this page includes a section on "health and science" professions, it seems that Taylor has yet to produce any individuals of particular significance. I mean, really - "Graduating Class of 2012"? While I appreciate the individuals' contributions and efforts and I am sure that they are of personal significance, these individuals fail to meet the community standards and practices precedented by other "notable alumni" lists on other pages. After all, by the standards the page currently uses, I should be able to add myself to this list. Unless there are any objections or new and notable alumni introduced in the next couple of days, I am going to delete this particular subsection entirely. Furthermore, looking over the history of this page, I see that I am not the first to delete this section of marginal trivia. If I hear no objections or discussions explaining why this particular section should be maintained by Monday, December 8th 2008 - I will delete it. Aderksen (talk) 14:49, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You know what? Forget waiting. I really looked over the history in detail, and find that the "Science and Health Professionals of Note" have been deleted not once but several times. I also looked at the IP addresses, and note that edits adding this absurd section back in are either from a Houston-area SW-Bell or SBCGlobal proxy-server - and by someone at Southwestern Medical in Dallas. This is shameless self-promotion, and it is against wikipedia policy. I am deleting this section now. Unless one of these individuals merits their own wikipedia entry, or you can present a strong enough argument on the discussion page justifying their inclusion, I suggest you promote this trivia elsewhere. Keep it up, and you (or your proxies) will eventually be banned from editing this page. Aderksen (talk) 20:58, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The title of this article[edit]

The school is called "James E. Taylor", not "Katy Taylor". This article needs to be moved, instead of having the correct name as a redirect. I'll do the move in a few days, if somebody else doesn't get to it first.—Wwagner 06:30, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Date opened[edit]

The school opened to 9th and 10th grade in 1979.

Rivals[edit]

Taylor is rivals with Cinco Ranch High School, not Katy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.195.120.50 (talk) 16:57, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, we were/are rivals with Katy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PioneerGrrrl (talkcontribs) 12:32, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let this change to Cinco stand - I suspect that the modern Taylor probably feels about as threatened as Old Katy once did by the "new kids" moving into town. You might want to mention somewhere that Old Katy are the historical rivals. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aderksen (talkcontribs) 05:42, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Drug Problem[edit]

This has appeared on here more than once, and as an alum I could offer anecdotal evidence suggesting that it has been a persistent problem. However, without any numbers or hard evidence, this is all hearsay. If someone can find a citation, I'd support that these statements stay. Aderksen (talk) 04:36, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
