Full Name[edit]

Well is he James P. Carroll or James M. Carroll ?? Hugo999 (talk) 08:20, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He is James P. Carroll according to the Gale Biography so I will alter James M. to James P. Hugo999 (talk) 10:59, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

At a speech last night (12/3/2013) Carroll addressed this directly, saying that Wikipedia calls him James P. Carroll "for some unknown reason", and that he is simply James Carroll. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tangiblethree (talkcontribs) 18:52, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Criticisms[edit]

One might mention criticisms of Carroll's apologetics for Islam. A search engine query under ' islam james carroll' will show what I mean. Andygx (talk) 08:24, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wonder Bread[edit]

This biosketch helps build strong bodies 8 ways. It sets a new Wikipedia record for vapidity. This writer (stunned) has just finished reading An American Requiem, and is of the opinion that it deserved the Pulitzer Prize for Non Fiction. Mr. Carroll is one of the most eloquent, ethical, and complicated, therefore interesting, persons on top of dirt. His 71st birthday came 64 days after mine, and as such the cardinal event in our lives was Vietnam, and the shattering effects upon lives that came from opposing, battling, and avoiding - by whatever means necessary - being made into murderers by Uncle Sam. As a personal example, FBI agents attended my father's funeral, but I did not. When L.I. Newsday phoned for my reaction to the Ford =Clemency Program= I said that, for alternative service I proposed to throw bricks at yellow school buses carrying Bostonian black children to schools in white neighborhoods. James Carroll rode inside those buses to help protect the kids, who wrongly thought he was an FBI agent. Ideally, this biosketch should be erased and co-written by Walter Mosley and John Irving, who know character when they see it, and how to describe it. -- Ed Chilton — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.82.67.56 (talk) 14:54, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

His education[edit]

"the Paulist Fathers' seminary, where he received his B.A. and M.A. degrees" - it doesn't make him an academic historian and not any author of books about history is a historian. Xx236 (talk) 07:07, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
