Naming

I'm not familiar with Pakistani naming conventions, but is there a reason why Jahangir is referenced by his first, and not last name throughout the article? JDoorjam 16:32, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

Copyright issues

Much material in the article seems to come directly from http://www.squashtalk.com/pakistan/khanstory3.htm. Is this material available for reproduction under the GFDL, or does this constitute an infringement?

Bat for Lashes

The Bat for Lashes article says that she - Natasha Khan - is the daughter of this gentleman. Is that correct? If so it ought to be mentioned here. If not please remove the reference from the other article. --kingboyk (talk) 13:41, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

She is in fact the daughter of his former coach, Rehmat Khan. I have corrected this on the Bat for Lashes page in put in an appropraite citation. Zaxem (talk) 16:14, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Uncertainty principal

The intro currently has the sentence "This was not only the longest winning streak in squash history, but also one of the longest unbeaten runs by any athlete in top-level professional sports." My change to "This is not only the longest winning streak in squash history, but, in number of consecutive wins, in any professional sports." was reverted, with the summary "if it's not a certainty (the winning streak article says "may have been") then we can't state it as fact".

Admittedly "The longest winning streak in any professional sports may have been Jahangir Khan's 555 consecutive wins in squash from 1981 to 1986." in the winning streak article was my own writing. We should probably change it to "The longest known (or recorded?) winning streak in any professional sports was..." to avoid confusion. A statement like that begs for a citation, but for some reason the Guinness Book of records has devolved to reporting only on record numbers of body piercings and the like, while I'm not aware of another recognized authority on sports-wide records. Maybe someone can find that.

Since writing Esther Vergeer's page in 2007, I've been keeping an eye out for anyone reporting on winning streaks longer than those of Esther (now at 429) and Jahangir, but none has been mentioned. Khan's streak is always simple mentioned as "the longest". Most current newspaper articles probably copy the data from wikipedia, but my guess is that someone would have opened their mouth by now to make people aware of the 612 match winning streak by G. K. Chesterton in professional shuffleboard from 1919 to 1932, or something similarly obscure. I suggest:

"This is not only the longest winning streak in squash history, but also the highest known (recorded?) number of consecutive wins in professional sports."

"Is" instead of "was", as it still is the longest winning streak in squash history. "Number of consecutive wins" as one could also consider longest as a period of time (e.g. America defended the America's Cup for 132 years). "In professional sports" instead of "in top-level professional sports" because any professional athlete or team would be at the top-level of their sports after 555 consecutive wins. We do need to keep "professional" as it is quite possible that someone has a longer winning streak in, say, ping pong at the office. Afasmit (talk) 05:13, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
