Fair use rationale for Image:Miss sri lanka2006.JPG.jpg

Image:Miss sri lanka2006.JPG.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Additional info

I went to school with Jacqueline and I have a bit of information about her life in Bahrain. She used to host a couple of TV shows, mostly on the English version of Bahrain TV. She was also in Sacred Heart School, and had also been made a School Captain. Additional info if anyone would like to include it :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.209.19.224 (talk) 10:15, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Her parents are both Sinhalese?

According to what source? I remember that it was written that her father was a Sinhalese-Portuguese mixed Sri Lankan and her mother is Malay (or at least from Malaysia). AyanP (talk) 21:19, 27 March 2011 (UTC)Ayan

Whis country's republic day, atleast not of India

Breakthrough & success (2011–present)

In 2011, Fernandez appeared in her third film, Mahesh Bhatt's thriller Murder 2, which went on to become her first box office success, receiving blockbuster status. Fernandez played the role of Priya a lonely model who is in a confused relationship with Arjun Bhagwat, played by Emraan Hashmi. Fernandez grabbed a lot of attention for the boldness and sex appeal she displayed in the movie. Murder 2 launched Fernandez's career for the good, as she started getting offers from big production houses. Post Murder 2 success, Fernandez turned down many roles, such as Raaz 3D, to avoid being type cast as a sex symbol.[15] She also turned down a role in Krrish 3, but that was due to date conflicts.[16] She ranked at #7 in Time's Top 50 Most Desirable Women of 2011.[17]

In 2012 Fernandez appeared in Housefull 2, which become a major commercial success, receiving a super hit status at the box office. Also, Fernandez received positive reviews for her performance. Fernandez is currently filming for Abbas-Mustan's Race 2, which is expected to be released on _-------25 January 2013, on Republic Day----

Her birthday is August 11th 1985 and not June 2nd

I know Jacqueline personally and her mum and worked with her manager once.. Please change and find a any reference available that is saying her birthday is august 11th, 1985Rani300 (talk) 14:09, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

Okay, but since you know her, can you explain why so many websites say that her birthday is June 2nd? Can you ask her how this confusion happened, and why she has not cleared it up with an interview? BollyJeff | talk 14:51, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
She tried, but never worked... so she asked me and her manager to change it here. some websites have August 11th and there is an interview with the interviewer telling her happy belated birthday on 11th August and the video was posted in august, here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRsdwIcHrEc .. please try your best to get it at August 11th. Also Race 2 Facebook Page posted photos of Jacqueline celebrating her birthday last year on August 11th. Please Try Thanks!!! Edit-warring and article protection

There has been edit-warring over Jacqueline Fernandez's date of birth, from at least as far back as June 2011: [1]. Recently, this edit war has become very active. Both sides in the dispute have given sources, and there is disagreement over which sources, if any, are reliable. Things are not helped by the unhelpful attitude expressed above by the editor who wrote "And I am NOT going to give you any sources. But I will always change her birthday back to 11th August." I shall protect the article for a while, to give editors a chance to discuss the reliability of sources on this page. I shall also remove the disputed content from the article, and suggest that it be restored only if and when consensus is reached. Initially, I shall fully protect the article for a month. I hope that the issue can be resolved sooner than that, and the article unprotected again. I note, however, that the article has been semi-protected several times before, but the problem has continued. It will be very unfortunate if the article has to be subjected to long-term full protection, obstructing other useful editing, because of this long-term dispute over one small detail. While the article is protected, you may make a request for an administrator to make any uncontroversial edits by placing the {{Edit protected}} tag here, followed by a statement of what edit you are requesting. Wikipedia:Edit requests gives information about how to do this: please don't make edit requests unless you have checked that page. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:10, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Well, its been more than a month since there has been any activity on this issue. I suppose we stick with no date until a more definitive source pops up in the future. BollyJeff | talk 17:26, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
Yes, good decision :)--BabbaQ (talk) 21:22, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
As the inclusion of an unverified birthdate continues I have again protected the article. If a conclusion is reached prior to the expiration of the semi-protection, please ping me on my talk page and I will remove the protection. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 18:28, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Date of Birth Again

The sources provided give an age for the date of birth but not the date. I'm inclined to remove it and leave a birth year. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 18:19, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Not done In the video link at the bottom here at 1:18, and in other sources it says 11 August, but alas, not the year. We are still looking for definitive sources that list month, day and year though. BollyJeff | talk 12:55, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Jacqueline's birthday is 11th August 1985

Jacqueline's birthday is 11th August 1985. Source - Jacqueline's mother Kim Fernandez. Change it back if you are still so arrogant. Doesn't matter anyway, because you are WRONG! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.157.200.227 (talk) 06:55, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

This is the LAST place I would recommend anyone to read about Jacqueline Fernandez. Sadly this comes first on google search results. Even if Jacqueline Fernandez herself comes here and correct these errors you people won't let it be for another 24 hours! Is this a 'Wikipedia celebrity page'? Whatever anyone writes on the net you add it here. And you have a verifiable source! LOL. The birthday here is NOT her birthday! movies you want her to do are not the ones she's doing
Dear Mr. IP(s). Please provide a reliable source for her birth date and it will be corrected. All you do is change it with no source and then complain. If her mother says it is xx-yy-zzzz, prove it with a document, a video, a weblink; anything that can be cited here. According to Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth, it is more important to have sourced info, than to have the truth with no sources. BollyJeff | talk 13:20, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
I just want to warn all IPs that continues to add unsourced changes on Fernandez birthdate, that you will probably help the article being indefinitly protected in the end. Making further edits from IPs impossible on the article and I would support an indefinite protection right now.--BabbaQ (talk) 17:01, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
Oh Please! don't you have an internet connection? oh you don't use google. Look it up! Jacqueline recently celebrated her birthday on the sets of Race 2. and that was OFCOURSE 11th August. There are pictures Jacqueline celebrating her birthday with her co-stars. And I am NOT going to give you any sources. But I will always change her birthday back to 11th August. I'm sure Jacqueline will appreciate that rather than sourced big fat lies. I was wondering if there were some 4 or 5 articles calling her a 'man' you would enter that here too? that she's a man? PS :- I am THE admin of Jacqueline's largest facebook fan page. You go to it and you'll see her birthday as 11th August. If this is going to continue I am going to publicly edit the pages 'about' to "wikipedia sucks! Jacqueline's birthday is 11th August not 2nd June!" for everyone to see.
I sure wish you would provide reliable links to this celebration, but as of now you have not. I added another source From Hindustan Times for June 2. Then I did a search on Highbeam and found one source for August 11 (http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P3-2418976621.html). Google searches on both dates provide over a million hits. Its so stupid; how do birthdays get so confused like this? BollyJeff | talk
Okay, now here is a link from Mid Day saying its August 11: http://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/2012/aug/110812-Jacqueline-low-key-birthday-affair.htm and maybe this is the birthday bash that you spoke of, but I don't know if this site is reliable. It does not give the date, but the url has mid August in it: http://www.fashioncirqle.com/2012/08/17/jacqueline-fernandezs-birthday-celebrations-on-the-sets-of-race2/ BollyJeff | talk 00:07, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
I have turned the birtdate back to 2 June, no reliable source for 11 August. Many more reliable sources for 2 June. Lets hope this is the end of the discussion until reliable sources can be produced for 11 August claim.--BabbaQ (talk) 17:55, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
I have finally found some good sources (one was pointed out by Rani300). There is a video of her accepting happy birthday for that day. There is Mid Day newspaper, and there are is a Sri Lankan and UK newspaper covering basically the same story. I cannot explain how Hindustan Times got it wrong, but that article has no author listed, so who knows where it came from originally.BollyJeff | talk 02:01, 3 March 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I see that someone has reverted this and the page is now protected. So, what was wrong with the sources that I recently added? They seem to me to be the most reliable and conclusive. I know there are 1.5 million google hits for each birthday, and I would sure like to know how this happened, but when you have the subject on video saying thank you when someone else says happy birthday for August 11th, what more do you want? BollyJeff | talk 13:55, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
I think the main problem is that there are plenty more reliable sources saying 2 June.--BabbaQ (talk) 14:16, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
More reliable than Fernandez herself? Such as...? BollyJeff | talk 01:55, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
I agree with Bollyjeff. If a person says happy birthday to you and it's not your birthday, wouldn't you tell them about it?!? And also, she has confirmed on her Twitter account that her birthday is 11 August. So that's 2 confirmations from the lady herself. Can we add her birthday now as August 11? twitter1 and twitter2 AB01 (talk) 12:00, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Okay, given these tweets and the video posted above [ http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/more/videos/view/showing/interviews/sort/What's%20New/id/1883238], I think it is settled now. I will add it. BollyJeff | talk 21:47, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

To list the Date of birth it needs to state the full dob including year in the same source. In the real world you are all probably correct but in dealing with BLP we need explicit statements with that whole information. Sadly we can not say these two references say 08/11 and this one says she is 29. We can not take a+b to equal C. It's WP:OR. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 17:36, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Hell in a Bucket - You can see that there was discussion and agreement here, and you come along and delete everything?? You certainly could have left the day and month. Where is the policy that has what you said in your first sentence? BollyJeff | talk 01:14, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
It's a WP:BLPPRIVACY violation and it doesn't matter that you agreed above, sorry but when dealing with BLP it's specific. You are taking three sources to come up with a synthesis of what you think her age to be. As I said above you may be right in the real world but taking the month and the day from two sources and adding a year of birth found on another is WP:OR. I am removing it as contentious information that is also a privacy concern "Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced – whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable – should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion" As I mentioned below and I apologize I forgot we had made a small discussion that you may use the year of birth but until you have the full dob list only that. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 05:55, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
The link that you provided does NOT say that the day month and year has to come from one source. It is hardly rocket science original research to use a couple sources for the two parts of the date. You are being petty. If she complains, as it DOES say in that source, then we can correct or remove it. BollyJeff | talk 00:56, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

User:Bollyjeff read the first few paragraphs of the blp policy, I'll bold a few keypoints.

Editors must take particular care when adding information about living persons to any Wikipedia page.[1] Such material requires a high degree of sensitivity, and must adhere strictly to all applicable laws in the United States, to this policy, and to Wikipedia's three core content policies:
Neutral point of view (NPOV)
Verifiability (V)
No original research (NOR)
We must get the article right. Be very firm about the use of high-quality sources. All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be explicitly attributed to a reliable, published source, which is usually done with an inline citation. Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced – whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable – should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion.[2] Users who persistently or egregiously violate this policy may be blocked from editing.
Biographies of living persons ("BLP"s) must be written conservatively and with regard for the subject's privacy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid: it is not Wikipedia's job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives; the possibility of harm to living subjects must always be considered when exercising editorial judgment. This policy applies to any living person mentioned in a BLP, whether or not that person is the subject of the article, and to material about living persons in other articles and on other pages, including talk pages.[3] The burden of evidence rests with the editor who adds or restores material. If you still think I'm dead wrong you can take it the The WP:BLPN noticeboard but especially when there is conflicting info we need to be explicit in what's listed and make sure it's properly sourced. As it stood it was not. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 03:35, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
See my response at Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Jacqueline_Fernandez. BollyJeff | talk 12:17, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
Looks like you earned yourself a job to revert this every day or so until the end of time. Congrats. BollyJeff | talk 16:29, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
If it becomes a big problem I'll request full protection and then it won't be a problem, why would you want to lower the quality of the article by using bad or insufficient references, this isn't something I'm making up this is the guidelines set out by the community and the wikimedia foundation? We agree to those terms and conditions along with the policies by editing here, it's the same thing as vandalism, you can't always stop it you just revert it and eventually they go away. It's up to your integrity I guess how important it is to show a good article or not. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 18:03, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Go see the latest response at the BLP noticeboard. BollyJeff | talk 18:06, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
I've seen it, doesn't matter the policy is crystal clear "Do not combine material from multiple sources to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by any of the sources. Similarly, do not combine different parts of one source to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by the source. If one reliable source says A, and another reliable source says B, do not join A and B together to imply a conclusion C that is not mentioned by either of the sources. This would be a synthesis of published material to imply a new conclusion, which is original research". I'm sorry if you don't like it but that's the policy, I promise I"m not making it all up. Give me a reasonable answer why we should break that policy just so we don't have to revert poor sourcing? Seriously the only argument you've put forward is that you don't want to revert it. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 18:11, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
You are being unreasonable and not accepting other's advice and consensus, like your friend. I did it because it's the right thing to do. Policy is not my god. See Wikipedia:Ignore all rules. There is a nice diagram to explain how it works at Wikipedia:What_"Ignore_all_rules"_means#Diagram. BollyJeff | talk 18:22, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Promtionalism

Phrasing such as glamorous roles, breakthroughs damn near everything in [[2]] this is not appropriate. Especially not removing the tags that are stating that these are issues when the edits in fact are making those issues worse and not better in the slightest. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 14:43, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

Upcoming projects

per WP:CRYSTAL which states "Wikipedia is not a collection of product announcements and rumors." and also "Individual scheduled or expected future events should be included only if the event is notable and almost certain to take place. Dates are not definite until the event actually takes place" Hell in a Bucket (talk) 16:07, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

Um, the very next line says "Wikipedia includes up-to-date knowledge about newly revealed products", just not whole articles. It is not crystal to say that she is working on a certain film, if sources say that she is; not speculation. Sure the film could get shelved, but if she is in fact working on it, then it can be noted. Be reasonable. BollyJeff | talk 17:57, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
I"m more then happy to open a discussion on it. We can leave this and let people comment and see where things go or we could request a WP:3O. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 02:05, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
User:Bollyjeff I added the dispute to ask for a third opinion from the board WP:3O, I would add as well as crystal wikiepedia is not a news site and celebrities especially get a lot of non important filler coverage. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 16:09, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Okay, that's fine. I still believe that upcoming projects are very common in actor BLP articles, and should not be banned if sourced appropriately. Let's see what happens. BollyJeff | talk 16:19, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Completely agree with Bollyjeff. Her upcoming projects are important enough to be included in the article. The films that she has completed work on, or is filming for, or has been officially announced by the producer/director must be included with an in-line citation. Per crystal, only the films that she is rumoured to be doing should not be included. -- KRIMUK90  03:13, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

GF BF Music Video, her latest stage shows, awards and nominations & ramp activities. Also, her new campaign "Jacqueline Builds". This campaign aims to build homes for the affected people of Chennai Floods.

Please add these to the requested page. Anyone can help. Thank you! Janahones (talk) 04:51, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

There've been a lot of edits today about her marrying Kapil Sharma. This source suggests it's actually a publicity stunt: [3].
