Trivia section[edit]

Since, as the {{Trivia}} template says, Trivia sections are discouraged under Wikipedia guidelines, a new Trivia section should not be created in this article. See Wikipedia:Trivia sections. If you feel that some material in the lead section is too trivial, you would still have three options. (1) Move the material to a different section, existing or new, without creating a Trivia section. This might make the most sense, since, as it says in Wikipedia:Lead section, the lead section should be a short, balanced overview summarizing the entire article. (2) Rewrite or improve the material so that it is not too trivial and is appropriate for the lead section. That might be impractical in this case. (3) Remove the material from the article. In general this should be avoided unless the material is completely inappropriate to the article or has some other problem with it. One person's trivial fact may be another person's interesting point, especially if and when the article is significantly expanded in the future. — Mudwater 15:04, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A few things[edit]

I work for one of the radio stations, so I think it'd be conflict of interest to edit them, but I at least added a media section to highlight the stations that broadcast of out J'ville. if someone could flesh those individual station's pages out a little, that'd be great- and by "flesh out," I mean that three of them haven't even had articles started yet. Also, I think the downtown turnaround section reads a little too much like PR. Agreed. I removed the Downtown section completely, as it's in no way historically significant and read like bad PR copy. It was clearly written by some event organizer looking to pat themselves on the back. Potentially interesting but unsourced trivia for potential future use[edit]

  • Scholars claim that Jacksonville was created in 1825 as a compromise county seat to settle a three-town rivalry.
  • Jacksonville was once listed in Ripley's Believe it or Not when it had four churches at the corners of Church Street and State Street. Only two of these churches remain today.
  • The city also has the unique distinction of having at least eleven pipe organs at various local houses of worship as well as both of its four-year colleges.

Passavant Hospital[edit]

I removed some text on Passavant Area Hospital. The text was copied from here, http://www.passavanthospital.com/index.cfm?pageID=10 and the editor was contributing from an IP address from within Passavant.
