POV[edit]

Invalid reference. Reference 2 Looks like 'personal research' for me (read: BS). This leads to an fault in the neutral POV premise. I suggest rewriting. "Adtollite portas principes vestras" 04:51, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. Geocities websites are no more reliable than another wiki. I rmoved the section and the tag.-- Secisek (talk) 06:01, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IW problem[edit]

Something in the article is generating a bogus Hebrew interwiki... AnonMoos (talk) 18:47, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hieroglyphs[edit]

The hieroglyphs read 'Atum', not 'Iusaaset'. I'd change it but I'm not sure how to do hieroglyphs in Wikipedia. 99.25.117.218 (talk) 08:00, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

is probably warranted here but still needs to have some WP:RSes added or should be pulled as WP:OR. — LlywelynII 06:38, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Does her name have the name of Isis in it?[edit]

Isis being actually Iset or Aset. In English it looks like that could be the case, but that could be misleading?--JaredMithrandir (talk) 02:12, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Judging from what I can find in my sources, her name had the phonetic value ʿIw=s-ʿꜣ=s or ʿIw=s-ʿꜣ=st and was written
D54
Z7
O34
D36
G1S29X1
Z4
I12
or similarly. The ꜣst combination of consonants is the same as Isis' name, but I wouldn't assume there's a connection. The -t was simply the feminine suffix for any word, and the hieroglyphic spelling of Iusaaset's name shows no particular similarity to that of Isis' name.
If you're researching a bunch of Egyptian deities, I really do suggest getting a book on the subject; they're not easy to keep straight in one's head (like with Amun and Atum) if you don't know the material thoroughly. The Complete Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt and The Routledge Dictionary of Egyptian Gods and Goddesses both list all the major deities and a lot of minor ones; the former gives a better idea of the underlying belief systems and the latter list hieroglyphic spellings for most gods' names. Egyptian Mythology by Geraldine Pinch describes the major myths and contains a catalogue of most major deities or classes of deity. I recommend any of the three, though I don't know which one best fits your needs. A. Parrot (talk) 01:20, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
