Implication of Shach's comment 196:20[edit]

Author's inference that rulings of Isserlin may be overruled when in argument with other authorities is unfounded. The selection of Shach to which he refers contains no such implication. Shach mentions Isserlin's authorship of the questions to direct that the parameters of the questions have themselves binding influence on the response. Whereas, in other responsa, the suggestions of the questioner cannot be assumed to effect the answer unless directly quoted therein, the questions in these responsa do bear weight having been written by Isserlin himself.
