location[edit]

Isleworth Ait does not face "the towpath alongside Kew Gardens" - Kew Gardens is actually several hundred metres further downstream of the downstream end of the island. The towpath on the Surrey side actually runs along the edge of the Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club.

Recent revert[edit]

I reverted an edit by Adam37 with the comment that it is confusing. He re-reverted asking me to be specific. 1. "Thames Water owns the island, as it houses the outfall from the Mogden Sewage Treatment Works". This is a non-sequitur - TW does not have to own the island because it houses the outfall. The previous version "which houses" was correct. 2. "outer West London, Wraysbury and Spelthorne – more than 2,000,000 residents". Wraysbury and Spelthorn do not have more than 2 million residents. If you mean outer West London plus Wraysbury and Spelthorne this should be made clear. 3. "Most of the outfall is meant to be treated as the sewerage catchment generally has separate surface water drainage, drains for rainwater to flow into rivers and soakaways, which thus keeps untreated storm discharges from sewerage works low by not sending storm water to them." Ownership[edit]

1 The final sentence in this section is, I believe, wrong. Other references say that the ait was bought from the duke by Middlesex County Council. Since in the 1930s sewage disposal was a responsibilty of local authorities this seems more likely. Water supply (eg by the MWB) was then an entirely separate undertaking.

2 Much of this section refers - in a rather convoluted and confusing way - to issues of sewage treatment, not ownership. Perhaps they would be better removed and a reference to the Wikipedia page on Mogden given.

3 There is no place name West London. The word west here is an adjective and should be lower case. Tommyboy (talk) 06:29, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
