While I agree that the tone of the article is excessively promotional, I note that it is more richly textured than, say, the article on his contemporary Lorenz Hart, who was at least as significant a lyricist if not more so.--Tomstoner 15:29, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Arthur Francis?[edit]

What?! His brother's name was Arthur and his sister's was Francis! Surely he wasn't known by that....

Gershwin Prize[edit]

There's a separate Wikipedia article on the Gershwin Prize, which is kept up to date with each year's winner, citations, etc.

So, it seems suboptimal to describe the first and second winners here on Ira's page. Both of those sentences/discussion should be removed from this Ira Gershwin article, instead making sure that the Gershwin Prize article is always thorough.

I hate to just "delete" Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder from here -- someone will be upset -- but Burt Bacharach and Carole King are clearly omitted, ... What's the right procedure?
