The song was not banned by the BBC - just the video. I can distinctly recall watching Top Of The Pops back in '81, and they used a montage of photos of the band to accompany the song.

"Source of title" OR[edit]

User William M. Connolley reverted my deletion of the section "Source of title." As it stands, the material is unsourced and contains blatant, even audacious, original research. As is the case across Wikipedia, "unsourced material may be challenged and removed," hence the removal. Please also note that while the material itself could be sourced, it would need to be sourced as the inspiration for the song title, not simply to the books mentioned. In other words, a reliable source stating that Sting or other members of the Police were influenced by this material. Simply pointing out that the term "invisible sun" has been around for centuries and then claiming that Sting must have forgotten that he heard it someplace is original research and not permissible.

Further, even provided that such a link can be found and sourced, there's far too much material in this article on the past usage of the term "invisible sun." Its length befits an article on the term itself rather than as simply inspiration for a song title.

I reverted your change, because it was unexplained. Its a good idea to explain deletions. In this case, you're partially wrong: its not unsourced; I checked before restoring it. It is clearly sourced. However, your claim of OR may well have merit. Probably, there should be a separate page for the alchemical "invisible sun" concept William M. Removed all this again. It is ORIGINAL RESEARCH. It is also UNSOURCED according to Wikipedia guidelines. If you have such sources, please feel free to add them. However, they will STILL be irrelevant to THIS article unless you can link the song in question to them with legitimate sources doing so. If your passion for this subject is so strong, please create the article for it.
