Why is it called "IUR"?[edit]

The article doesn't seem to explain this anywhere, despite "IUR" clearly not being an abbreviation of "Inuit Sign Language". GeoEvan (talk) 01:28, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I plan to add a picture but I am having a hard time because I need to find a picture that needs to be licensed under a free license Umnawahal (talk) 18:45, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I think we will add the actual abbreviation for IUR in the lead since I understand some people were confused by the acronym.
@Mmysli I don't think we referenced the same thing twice when we put it in the actual article, but I think we just wanted to make sure everything was cited beforehand. The status category is already in the original article and the first sentence of that section, I think, explains what they mean by "status" enough (whether it's threatened or not), but I appreciate your input! We will also try to check for varieties, but the data is pretty limited on that front because of the small populations that speak it and how the language is contained to one region in Canada, so there's not much regional/ locational differences.
@Zohaib Alvi Okay, we will double check those citations!
@Llill2 Yes, we agree that pictures would be very helpful and I think Umna is getting on it! Otherwise, I think we will now start to focus more on phonetics and grammar since most of the information we found and added dealt with history, and, hopefully, that can also add more meat to our sandbox like you said.
@Lramir54 Thanks for your detailed review! I'll try to check up on that rumored section because I felt apprehensive about removing things others have written, but I agree that it could compromise the legitimacy of our sources and information. @Mmysli First, thank you for the review. And I will find out more about the parts that are not explained in detail in our group. In particular, the status category refers to the part that the current language is disappearing, but I will check again for ambiguous expressions.
@Zohaib AlviThanks for the review. I'll check what kind of update I need for the lead. I think it will be more readable if the lead is developed according to the flow of the article.
@Lramir54 Since it is a minority language, it is difficult to find various updates, but I will do my best. And putting the picture was something we were considering. Since it's sign language, it's definitely helpful to have a picture. Thank you for the review.
@Llill2 I think I can read more about the Inuit sign language itself, find it, and add it. I also think that there is a lack of information related to it in general. And it would be good to find a way to use the pictures in the reference materials. Especially since it is a sign language, photo materials are more important. And I agree with your opinion that it would be more effective to write down the contents in the sandbox for now. It will be easier to organize the contents later. What I can add later is how language is being observed from a social point of view and how it is now. The most important thing right now is I need to know more about the basic morphology and I will try my best. Hoh34 (talk) 03:21, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
