Should this not be at Inuit Community? See, for instance Christian Social Union not Christlich-Soziale Union AndrewRT - Talk 00:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, articles should be at English names. However, if a party is more known by its native name, it could be used (Herri Batasuna, Sinn Fein, etc.). I think in the case of the Greenlandic parties original names should be used, as the translations are a bit strange in English. Also, I'm not 100% sure that the widely circulated English translations are necessarily correct interpretations of Greenlandic. --Soman 13:34, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

translation[edit]

I've seen at least four, different translations or "commonly known as..." in various sources. The Australian says Inuit Community or IA. Reuters says Eskimo Brotherhood. BBC News says Community of the People or IA. Euronews says Inuit or Eskimo Brotherhood. Xinhua News Agency says IA. Currently, the article's first sentence states (Greenlandic for Community of the People), but uses the term Inuit Community in the third paragraph. In order to avoid confusion (maybe I'm the only one confused, ha), can someone clarify the commonly used names/abbreviation. It would be helpful to add/bold them in the lede. Thanks. Ideology[edit]

Can I point out that independence is a goal, as indeed would be unification with XYZ if there had been a plan to open the borders of the full sovereign body; but it is not a political ideology. Ideologies refer to the beliefs adopted by the party, such as liberalism, Christian democracy, conservatism, social democracy, democratic socialism, left-wing nationalism, communism/marxism etc. Independence is not a creed, any more than the plain simple term "democracy" itself. But I agree that it is important to list it otherwise it could easily mislead readers into assuming that by being an active party, it accepts the status quo of Denmark's sovereignty. Does anyone agree that independence should be parenthesised with a sidenote? Evlekis (talk) 12:20, 5 June 2009 (UTC) Blocked sock:Evlekis.[reply]

I would prefer separatism with the link going to Greenlandic independence, as separatism is an ideology and Greenlandic independence the Greenlandic form of it. Euroscepticism should be removed as Greenland is neither in Europe, nor in the EU. Its not an issue in Greenlandic politics and therefore not part of the current party ideology.--Batmacumba (talk) 08:56, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Greenlandic"[edit]

The qualifier Greenlandic seats in the table seems superfluous. Under Plaid Cymru#Electoral_performance its just taken for granted they compete for the Welsh 36 seats and not mentioned explicitly. If the number is two the reader will now its the Greenlandic seats.--Batmacumba (talk) 08:52, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Left wing[edit]

IA is de facto centre-left these days and a very pragmatic party. The reference to it being left wing is from 1999. We should try to find a more current source that could place them accurately.--Batmacumba (talk) 09:00, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Source municipality seats[edit]

What is the source for how many seats the party has in the municipalities? I couldn't find any, but I may hope it's not as simple as 81/100*36,9 (excluding the losing party) because a portion of the seats is pre-allocated. --Agiotagegeniophobiafarris (talk) 06:48, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
