I propose merging I-794 and WIS 794 into a combined article (Interstate 794 and Highway 794 (Wisconsin) or similar) for several reasons.

  1. Both of their history (I-794, WIS 794) largely overlap each other (they are part of the Lake Freeway/Parkway, after all).
  2. WIS 794 is merely a continuation of I-794. (not much different from Interstate 110 and State Route 110 and Interstate 759)
  3. Considering that both of these articles are quite small, they could be easily merged without issues relating to article size.

Honestly, I'm not in favor of these mergers because the title gets way too clunky way too quickly. I'm back to a 1:1 relationship between actual designation and the article title/subject. Imzadi 1979  02:32, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not really a fan of this merge due to downgrade from I-794 (freeway) to WIS 794 (expressway); the examples given are of routes that are freeways throughout the entirety of the route. This is also different from Interstate 238 and State Route 238 (California), which is merely a designation change from State Route to Interstate for the same number, even if I-238 is an auxiliary route of I-80. Interstate 530 and Interstate 440 (Arkansas) having AR 530 and AR 440 on their respective pages is also different because the State Route designations are temporary since the two interstates will eventually be extended. On the topic of I-238/SR 238, SR 238 in California is an arterial road, while I-238 is, well, a freeway. So it's more than just a mere designation change. AlphaBeta135talk 22:33, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking of I-440 and AR 440, this reminds me of something I mention on the List of Interstate Highways in Arkansas page. Should the description of the interactive map on that page should have the words "Interstate Highways highlighted in red; future sections in blue" or something similar? The southern end of WIS 794 is a city street, not even a limited-access road. I think this is a fairly different situation than the handful of merged roads out there. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 03:41, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your right, I hadn't even remembered that. Thanks for pointing that out. ChessEric 20:12, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
