Unsigned?[edit]

Why is it known as "unsigned State Route 411"??? Is it former State Route 411? Is it former GA Route 411? Once a route becomes an Interstate, it is no longer co-signed for state highways IIRC. US Highways retain their designation, but not usually with state highways. I don't see why it's even mentioned so much in the article if it's unsigned... how would anyone know it's alias?

I think someone from the area ought to reword that portion of the article. Right now, I'd say don't even mention it being called an unsigned route... but I'm not from that area, so I don't know if it retains some local name.167.7.17.3 (talk) 17:55, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Georgia assigns "hidden" state route numbers to all interstates that run through the state. So, I-185's is SR 411. The online mapping services will occasionally show this number with - or instead of - the interstate designation.
(They do the same thing with US routes also, though they're signed. North from Atlanta, once I-985 ends, US 23 is cosigned with SR 365. Once US 441 merges, the route is signed as US 23/US 441/GA 15.) —C.Fred (talk) 20:55, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
