Ambiguity about name "International Electrical Congress[edit]

It seems that the name "International Electrical Congress" was taken over by the International Electrotechnical Commission (which was created in 1906). That is, one can see references to post-1906 events that are called "International Electrical Congress". But maybe this "break" should be indicated on this page? and explained better than I am able to do. Sdc870 (talk) 17:33, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Now I have tried to make a structure, and explain the principles in the article. As noted in the article, different sources make different classifications -- so unless a better secondary source can be found -- the present structure seems to do a better job than what I have been able to find in secondary sources. And primary sources (from the early 1900s) use different labels (no doubt reflecting tradition or custom) -- which adds to the confusion. Time will tell whether the structure proposed here can hold.
