Earlier rejected article[edit]

An earlier article had been created, but was rejected for insufficient sources: [1]

Still, there may be useful information to be incorporated from it. --Kai Carver (talk) 00:17, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Older material incorporated into this article[edit]

The article that was rejected was, in fact, the Wikipedia article on Informix for many years. It was cut, unaltered and put into a new name Informix Software, and a new article created under the name it had been under IBM Informix. This is in keeping with the Wikipedia standard practice of having articles about defunct companies under the defunct company name.

The editor who rejected the article was rejecting something that had been on Wikipedia in essentially the same format for more than five years. As I was not the author of all that material, I didn't feel up to going and justifying or arguing about the editors decision. Strictly speaking he was probably correct that the article was under-referenced. (Standards have improved on Wikipedia, but older articles are not frequently deleted, but rather improved).

Now that a new article has been created I re-incorporated the rejected article, which was factually correct. I have also taken time to add aproximately 15 additional references to the article.

More needs to be done, but I feel it is now at least a reasonable article rather than a stub. It would still be good to add additional references to the earlier parts of the history, much of which predates the internet and so is not as easy to find, but is still out there.
