Ranking[edit]

"Being a specialized institution under the Department of Space, IIST does not participate in any rankings by private organizations."

Really? Or is this just some lame excuse for not having any presence in national or international university rankings?

Being a "specialized institution" does not mean that it can not or should not be ranked. Every university (or "deemed to be university") worthy of being ranked would be ranked. It is good for both: the students (as they get to know which universities are good) as well as the universities (as they get noticed for their excellence, and hence get the best students, and also decent government funding if they are public universities).

If IIST has specially released some official notification or announcement that says it will not participate in any ranking surveys, and does not wish to be ranked in national or international university rankings, then that announcement must be having a web-link, which should be provided as a reference or citation in the article. Otherwise, points like this one should be removed from the article, as they don't have valid references backing them up, and just look like lame excuses.--115.69.252.126 (talk) 11:39, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
