Connection to real life[edit]

I seem to recall reading that the movie was based in part on incidents in the life of the famous faker Han van Meegeren; in particular, the scene where he replicates a forgery in court, to prove his innocence of other (more serious) crimes (as van Meegeren actually did). Should this be mentioned in the article? (The use of old toy soldiers for the white lead, shown in the movie, is again related to the van Meegeren case - his use of 'modern' lead was one of the things which allowed later scientific testing to prove his fakes.)
