Syntax[edit]

The sentence structure of this article kind of sucks. It's very repetitive and throws around these quotes like there are no real sources but one interview. Play a game and count how many times it mentions that she's biracial.

Date of album[edit]

She began writing songs and practiced her vocals. Her debut album, Chupacabra, released in 1997, featured the MTV hit "Legend of a Cowgirl."

1997? I doubt it... I saw the video Legend of a Cowgirl on AFRTS when I was in Korea, which was getting a lot of airplay at the time, and I left Korea in July 1996. -76.4.49.201 04:55, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to both Amazon.com and SamGoody.com the album Chupacabra and the single "Legend of a Cowgirl" were released in 1997. DanielD1980 22:33, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I went to high school with her and she didnt graduate till June of 1996. 1997 is the correct year of release. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.113.229.6 (talk) 08:18, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Little Jackie[edit]

Little Jackie should NOT redirect to this article since it is a duo consiting of Imani on vocals, and they now have their own hit single. CouplandForever (talk) 22:30, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio[edit]

I checked out one reference - currently #9, and the article appears to lift whole sentences - "she said with a sly grin" - from the article. Not good. I strongly suspect this article is riddled with similar copyvios :( --Tagishsimon (talk) 09:47, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More. I've posted the following on a user's talk page. Short version: this article may well be deleted it you do not sort the copyvio issues out, or, at least, severely stubbed..
I've been looking at the Imani Coppola & Little Jackie (band). Seems to me you're stitching together long chunks of copyright material with minimal additional input. This, for me, quite clearly violates our policy on copyright violation - see Wikipedia:Non-free content, for instance. I think you need to do very substantial edits to the articles to remove the quotes; or else face the very real prospect of seeing both of them deleted as salvageable copyright violations. I have raised the problems I perceive them to have at Wikipedia talk:Copyright problems#Articles composed of multiple copyvios?; depending on the outcome of debate there, and whether or not you act to remove the quotes, they'll be listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems for deletion.
Let me give you one example. In Little Jackie (band), perhaps 90% of the paragraph starting "Coppola says that she didn't plan to return to pop" is composed of cut & paste from the cited source. Neither citing a source, nor using quotation marks, gives you the right to lift this much content. And the problem is, both articles are riddled with this technique, such that it is difficult at times to see where the original input is.
I don't have time to sort this mess out, not much interest in spending time getting you clued in to what is and is not acceptable when copying copyrighted material. You clearly have an interest in the subject matter, so now it's down to you: remove the quotes - by and large, all of them - or lose the articles entirely. (Oh - and some of your references in LB are broken.) --Tagishsimon (talk) 20:38, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
After further investigation, I have tagged this article {{copyvio}}. While the material is quoted and attributed, in accordance with WP:NFC, the amount and substantiality taken from particularly the source named in the template far exceeds fair use and does not accord with that guideline. I believe it constitutes a serious copyright infringement. We may use brief quotations of text to illustrate points, but duplicating extensive copyrighted content is prohibited. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:32, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's always very sad when we have to tag with {{copyvio}}, but I'm sure you've done the right thing. --Tagishsimon (talk) 22:35, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
