Peformance history[edit]

The performance history is irritating. what is the year of the performance in london? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.34.146.153 (talk) 15:00, 3 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, there seems to have been a production at the King's Theatre Haymarket in London in 1821 (Source, Fenner: Opera in London). Also a later, freely Englished adaptation in 1827. Given the previous concern about the performance history, it should surely be noted that the work was first revived in the twentieth century in 1950 for Callas, who recorded it with a cast including Mariano Stabile as Prosdocimo, in a slightly cut version (often the case then) for EMI in, I think 1954. Presumably the reason for that recording's omission from the list is that it's not in stereo. If that's really the explanation, it's a pretty poor one. The performances with Callas, and the recording, re-established the work in the modern repertory. You can still hear why. Delahays (talk) 20:04, 20 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
