Buddhist nuns?[edit]

All initiates were required to hand over their possessions to Abbot Chao Kung, as he now called himself, who also spent his time seducing nuns.

This is a hoax, isn't it?

Tibetan nuns are no hoax. You better watch out for them. As for Ignaz Trebitsch-Lincoln, it's like "Captain Speedy"-- the name makes you think "hoax". Wait for the reference-checker gnomes to dig out the truth-- or become one yourself! Cheers. --Yamara 19:48, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree this sounds like a hoax - but it most definitely is not. He was not a hoax, he did the hoaxing.

There is no source for the assertion that ITTL sent articles attacking the Germans to Europe while he was working for them in the Far East. Not that it would be out of character for this guy. But we should document everything we can. 86.132.176.50 (talk) 18:32, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Buddhist nuns? Yep.[edit]

Yes, there are nuns in some Buddhist sects. Some shave their heads. Google "Buddhist nuns" and see. As for the article, it's not too far fetched. There's lots of wacky characters like this throughout history - especially the history of espionage. See Sir Richard Francis Burton, Sidney George Reilly, and Colonel Thomas Blood - and those are just the Brits!

What are the kanji (Chinese characters) for Chao Kung? Japanese in Shanghai[edit]

Under section Death it is stated the Nazis ordered the Japanese poison Trebitsch-Lincoln after they invaded Shanghai in 1943 (sic). However, the Japanese had occupied Chinese administered Shanghai after a battle in 1937, then took over the Foreign concession territory of the port in 1941 - two years earlier.
