Prequels Or Sequels

Okay, I need to clear this up as its being changed back and forth. A prequel is a movie that comes before... and sequel is one that comes after. So looking at the plot details "The is currently no plot details but it is predicted to continue where the prequel left off." (Where the film before, the predecessor finished).

It can't be "sequel" because that would mean it continues where Ice Age 4 (assuming there is one made) finishes. — Movie Junkie 19:27, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

A user that was previously deleted has come back as another user and has started vandalising this page again, it was deleted under the name TJUser (talk page) because he was a suspected sockpuppet of another notorious username. Ah there is a little dispute about the release date of this, according to IMDb its July 4th but according to Box Office Mojo its July 1st, I don't however think this warrants a block, remember the 3 revert rule. EwanMclean2005 (talk) 21:54, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Odd, no?

The available pictures for "Dawn of the Dinosaurs" suggest that the dinosaurs in question (if there really is more than one; such name plays to bring up anticipation for movies have not been passed by before!) are disproportionately larger than the main animals; the head of what looks like a Tyrannosaurus is about as big as Manfred himself! Then again, it could be a trick with the cameras, but I don't quite know what to think. Any thoughts or am I the only excessively-pedantic-yet-admirable-in-an-irksome-kind-of-way fellow who feels perplexed about this?--KnowledgeLord (talk) 05:58, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Not only is the T-Rex head on the poster ridiculously oversized for an actual scale representation, how in the world are they going to explain dinosaurs and mammoths coexisting? Actually, the first two films did have a number of anachronisms: the first two films had animals from all epochs of the world as their cast and supporting characters, few from the Ice Ages. The worst part is that the Ice Age that had mammals came after the dinosaurs went extinct. The whole "dawn of the dinosaurs" is WAY wrong. The Holocene epoch came after that meltdown, meaning there should be more cavemen and such, not sudden dinosaurs. This is worse than Pocahontas (movie). Historical

Shouldn't there be some discussion on the historic accuracy of the film. I know its just an animated comedyish family film, but still, isn't it impossible for all these animals to be together due to them not being alive in the same time periods?IAmTheCoinMan (talk) 22:53, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

It is impossible, yes, but then a lot of the creatures in this movie lived in different time periods to begin with: they had mammoths next to diatrymas, it's like having ancient Egyptians and spacemen together. It's a cartoon and so stuff tends to spring leaks in terms of accuracy, but without those leaks, you haven't much of a story.--KnowledgeLord (talk) 02:18, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

No, nothing new, but worse than stuff aimed at older populations. Hundreds of elementary school teachers will bemoan this for years to come, as they try to dislodge the notion that it was possible for these species to share a time together on earth. Also really complicates trying to get young kids to grasp geologic time spans--which was already plenty hard enough. Adding dinosaurs surely was controversial, but come to think about it, it's no difference if there was made a movie about talking animals in the ice age period in which they find an underground world with dinosaurs than a movie in the 21st century with people that find an underground world with dinosaurs. Like the previous Ice Age films, the film opens with the saber-toothed squirrel Scrat (Chris Wedge), who does everything he can to retrieve his precious acorn. This time, he falls in love with his female counterpart Scratte (Karen Disher), with the song "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" by Lou Rawls playing in the background, but an acorn appears instead after the music stops. The two fight over the acorn with Scatte is floung off the ground. As Scrat tries to save her, the two hold onto the acorn and the music starts back. Suddenly, she demonstrats her ability to glide like a flying squirrel, leaving Scrat falling to the ground. The two eventually fall in love after Scrat saves her from falling to her death in the lava river while she is unconscious. He even chooses to focus his attention on her instead of the acorn until the end of the film, when he tires of her finicky nature and reverts to his old ways. The ensuing fight between the couple leads to a volcanic explosion that hurls Scrat and the acorn back to the surface, leaving Scratte trapped underground. However, as Scrat is about to enjoy his acorn, a stray piece of ice falls on him and knocks the acorn back into Scratte’s hands. He screams in frustration, having lost both his acorn and Scratte.

Also please move the Real D info to the Development section, and change that section to Production and remove the expand tag. I also want "The film was opened to mixed reviews. As of august 12, Rotten Tomatoes reported that 44% of critics gave positive reviews based on 140 reviews with an average score of 5.4/10" changed to "The film received mixed reviews from critics. I recomend that the Scat and Scatte part be done next, then the Real D, production, and I see the sussion boxes should be removed too. And I reported the user resonsable for the Robin Hood vandalism. BR Audio Issues

I have an LG BD370 connected via HDMI to a Samsung LN40B630 TV. We've played a dozen BR discs with no problems, until Ice Age: DotD. With default settings (PCM Stereo over HDMI) the audio during the movie (not menus though) is overdriven and distorted to the point of physical pain. After calling the number on the disc, they said exchange it (I said for what, an identical copy?). So I played around with settings for an hour or two and discovered DTS Re-Encode for HDMI needs to be on. This may be a problem with the disc itself, it may be the LG player, the TV, or some combination of the above. Again, we've played at least a dozen discs without issue thus far, so my blame-o-meter goes towards Ice Age.

A respectful Request for researchers

Folks, I am searching for more tie-ins. My generation--1970s--grew up in the science fiction and fantasy concept of Pellucidar, the world beneath the world. I don't know if this fantasy genre has fallen out of favor, but it was the first thing my family "saw" at the promos, and we would relish the contributions of fans in this genre inside this movie. We all found it rich and supportive; my 9-yr old was delighted to ID the dino-species in the movie. He did rattle off the names of species I never heard of, but he was inspired by the baronyx and the Guanlong to do his own research. Unidentified Dinos

Can anyone answer a few of these questions for me. What the heck were those stegosaurids that Buck drives off along with the Iguanodon, Pachycephalosaurus, and Brachiosaurus. They looked truly bizarre, like a cross between Stegosaurus, Kentrosaurus, and maybe some kind of sauropod. Also, what species did that ceratopsid family belong to. I want to say Torosaurus but I'm not 100% sure. And what about those little purple theropods, Pelecanimimus?, Troodon?. Audience Reception in the lead

I've noticed in the lead section, there is a very thorough audience reception part, even though it isn't brought up in the rest of the article, there aren't any sources attached and it is preceded by a 'mixed critical reception' with nothing to back it up.
