The material added by an anonymous contributor seems to be a cut and paste from some unknown source written by Denise Lassaw, the subject's daughter. Possible CV? --Big_Iron 17:03, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Much of it seems to come from this page: [1]. I reverted to the stub version before the material was added. -Aranel ("Sarah") 00:08, 25 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

10/2/10 Correction regarding Ibram Lassaw's connection to Egypt and listing on the Egypt Stub? I am apologize for not knowing exactly how to use WIKI, so I hope this is the right place to make this comment. Ibram Lassaw was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1913. At that time Egypt was a part of the Ottoman Empire. Ibram's father, Philip Lassaw was born in Jerusalem, his mother was born in The Crimea. On their US immigration documents they are listed as Ottoman Hebrew's. Although Ibram was born in Alexandria he was not legally an Egyptian citizen, nor was his father. They lived in Alexandria for approximately eleven or twelve years, immigrating to the US in 1921, when Ibram was eight years old. They would have gone to the US sooner but WW1 prevented travel and they had to earn money for the trip which was partly sponsored by Philip Lassaw's brother who was already in New York. Because of imperfect information on the web Ibram Lassaw has been listed in books about Egyptian Americans and listed as an Egyptian sculptor by some art historians. I hope this correction will clear up this misunderstanding.rainymountainhiddenbird (talk) 20:04, 2 October 2010 (UTC) <ref>I am the author of IbramLassaw.net, the daughter and archivist[reply]
