Should this be a single (not promo)?[edit]

Hey there, this was originally a single, then was changed to promotional single as someone saying Kylie said "it's a taste" of the album. That aside, there appears to be quite a number of references saying it's a single, and the third single from Disco. And that's just from a quick google search. I'm seeking consensus from others before it's changed back to single. Thoughts? Tobyjamesaus (talk) 00:08, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This has been discussed many times over on other recent releases. The artist themself or their label needs to confirm that the song is a single rather than just coverage from a third party. Lots of songs get released digitally these days and the notion of countdown singles too. I'm inclined to say that this is a promo single because in the run up to the album's release, its "Magic" that Minogue has been promoting not "I Love It". Additionally there's no music video for this nor has any other mention or promo been done for the song. What's been demonstrated above is borderline original research. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 00:44, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Lil-Unique, good points. Appreciate your time. How good would it be if Kylie came out and said explicitly? Ha ha. Tobyjamesaus (talk) 03:56, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think if there's further confirmation such as a music video etc or something more explicit from the label then we can change it but on the basic that it was released and nothing else happened with the song, I'm inclined to say its a promo. Its worth noting that BMG used this exact strategy with Steps, where they released "Under My Skin" as an EP with remixed and original versions of the previous singles but the band explicitly said it wasn't their next single and then another song was promoted with a video etc. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 18:32, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Good one. I’m aware there have been discussions regarding this issue with other songs, but probably haven’t seen all outcomes of those discussions, and with today’s music promotion, it isn’t always clear, so happy to go with what you’ve said. As for Steps, I saw the “under my skin” EP too. (It’s a fun EP). For wiki purposes, it helps when the artist explicitly states it is or isn’t a single hey? Ha. Anyway, thanks again.
