Sneaze vs. Sneeze[edit]

It seems that Sneaze [sic] is really the correct spelling. If this is so, it should probably be noted in the article as it looks like a simple misspelling. 165.189.91.148 15:41, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Relevant sections should be added to this article. This was a major work. Satkomuni (talk) 09:40, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Three volumes in one edition[edit]

There are markings for "when and where?" for some reason. I don't know if it counts, but at least my translated edition is three novels in one. A simple search on chapters can yield those details. There is a useful forward in that copy which could add more detail to this article. Anyone savvy in Japanese can also simply translate the Japanese page for this article. [1] It's a major enough work that school children have to read it, but I think that must be historical since it is glaringly one of his early works.99.240.215.84 (talk) 23:28, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There are links to digitised prints of the three books in the Japanese wiki page, being from the National Diet Library's online Meiji-era collection one, two, three. There seem to be others as well: 吾輩は猫である#書誌情報.

Translation[edit]

I don't know if it is important, but in my edition by Tuttle Publishing ((c) 2002), there are a great deal of typos, especially in the more tedious / less interesting parts of the book. Silly things like Iead instead of lead. I've noticed dozens in my casual reading, so that one might say the exact quality of the translation is questionable. Many very uncommon and large words are used, which might be the translator's attempt to take the high style of the original's honourifics and give a westernised version. Not being fluent enough, I have not been able to read the original to compare. 99.240.215.84 (talk) 23:28, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"lead instead of lead" ?? What's the difference ? -- Beardo (talk) 13:10, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to need to install and use a better font that distinguishes between characters like "I" and "l".  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  18:08, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Versions[edit]

The image shows the cover of a 1906 translation whilst the info box just mentioons a 1972 translation. I think that the article could do with some information about the translations. -- Beardo (talk) 13:09, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
