"youtube is not an RS"[edit]

Regarding: 21:58, 25 August 2011 79.97.144.17 (talk) (30,496 bytes) (youtube is not an RS) (undo) (Tag: references removed) This adage is due to prior abuse by ppl on wiki. However, it is not true. Per Wiki policy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Video_links

"There is no blanket ban on linking to YouTube or other user-submitted video sites through external links or when citing sources."

The manner in which the youtube link is used here -- to document an event -- seems reasonable.

(Also see "YouTube as a reliable source" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard )

Is there a different rationale for your edit? If not, I'm inclined to undo your edit. Sincerely, Skingski (talk) 18:58, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I thought that it was a blanket ban, seeing as it apparently isn't I've no objection to it's use as a source in this case. However, I am concerned that "One year, they played at the festival inside a giant pink TV set dressed as superheroes" doesn't sound particularly encyclopaedic. For that matter, is it even a notable incident? Why mention their appearance and stage set up at one particular show? It's not as if dressing outlandishly is particularly unique to them as a band, or as if that was a famous incident.79.97.144.17 (talk) 20:00, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Totally understand your hesitation. I only include it as evidence in support of the band's perception as "a complete audio-visual package" (Ref. 3), incorporating music (performance) and visual art (theater; inside a TV set with multimedia). Skingski (talk) 21:20, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

External links modified[edit]

Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
