If Lorenzo Mata is famous, why isn't there a Wikipedia entry about him? Will someone volunteer to write one? Who is he, anyway? 69.129.128.27 17:51, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Miserable City List[edit]

I don't know anything about Huntington Park, but Business Insider's "Most Miserable Cities" article is nothing but click-bait. They seem to publish "most miserable" everything. Sometimes they use Arthur Okun's misery index, which is perhaps a reasonable way to measure economic misery, and based on a legitimate academic theory. However, the ratings used here are based on an arbitrary weighting of arbitrarily chosen data from a Census Bureau report. A different choice of data or a different weighting would give entirely different results. Reporters are not qualified to do this kind of work. In some sense, this violates wikipedia's "No Original Research" policy, because this was original "research" on the part of the reporter.

Because of this, I am going to remove the comment about Huntington Park's rating based on that news story. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ngriffeth (talkcontribs) 13:05, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Incorporation Date[edit]

The incorporation date is somewhat ambiguous (Per [1], "The incorporation election was held August 20, 1906 and the vote for city hood was 77 to 17. The incorporation was certified 10 days later."). Can someone more knowledgeable about this subject comment on this? Rmannion 08:55, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would say that unless you find any major contradictions, that a good reference would be the Incorporation Dates of California Cities (DOC file) from the League of California Cities. They say 9/1/1906. I'd use that date, and then explain in a footnote about the two different dates. BlankVerse 12:39, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:HPseal.jpg[edit]

Image:HPseal.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notable residents[edit]

I see from the History tab that a similar section such as this was once here- any particular reason why it was removed? The Original Historygeek (talk) 19:42, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I went ahead and put a new section in and populated it with a few people. The Original Historygeek (talk) 23:26, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2010 demographics[edit]

the 2010 demographics are wrong, the city couldn't possibly be 50% white and 97% latino. I couldn't find the correct numbers for number of caucasion residents on the original link, anyone have accurate data we could use? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.61.213.77 (talk) 19:45, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah this percentage rate is grossly in error. I checked the reference and that's what the reference says, but it doesn't make a lick of sense. Leitmotiv (talk) 01:48, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Heading change[edit]

I changed the heading of "Notable people" to be "Notable residents." This is consistent with other pages for LA communities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dmc213 (talkcontribs) 21:15, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
