"from his James benone"[edit]

"Through his mother he had royal blood as a great-grandson of King Edward III and from his James benone, he inherited the earldom of Stafford at an early age." What does this mean ? He inherited the earldom from his father, Edmund Stafford, 5th Earl of Stafford. RGCorris (talk) 09:30, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

John Rouse (librarian) is not the same as John Rous (antiquarian) and the last is not the author of the Beauchamp pageant[edit]

Dear community,

sorry to bring that up and not solving this by myself but I just stumbled upon a false/missleading link: At the description of the Siege of Calais the link to "John Rouse" goes to that article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rouse where as the other John Rous is meant: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rous_(historian) But even refering to John Rous is not true, because he was not the author of the Beauchamp Pageant. We simply don't know for sure who made the Pageant, but it is somewhat improbable that it was John Rous, even though older research just stats that it is could have been John Rous. If you have a look at the description of the BL, there is also no hint to Rous (as well as on the manuscript itself).
