There's more than you mention on publications. my page on Lewis' work lists the full collection in mind and elsewhere. (Do a "show source" for the page for the list I didn't use.)

Clarification needed regarding Scots admissions to English universities in the 19th century[edit]

Regarding:

"Early in his acquaintanceship with Gladstone, Malcolm MacColl persuaded the Liberal politician to provide funds for Hugh's education at Oxford. It was proposed to send him to Oxford University's St. Edmund Hall, but Gladstone made this conditional on Hugh MacColl agreeing to take orders in the Church of England."

This strikes me as dubious. Scottish Episcopalians like MacColl were still frowned on by the English establishment (this is long before the reconciliation which took place between the Church of England and Scottish Episcopalians when the Anglican Communion was formed in 1867) and this stipulation would have been imposed by the Oxford University authorities themselves, not by Gladstone. They weren't too keen on Presbyterians either during this period. Either way, a solid ref and clarification is needed. --Mais oui! (talk) 13:56, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth[edit]
