Additional Comments[edit]

Becca,

I think I misdirected you. Jerry Anderson's 1984 article "Hospital readmissions in the Medicare population" was the first study of readmissions in Medicare, not not the first study of readmissions ever in the literature. The first PubMed citation that I found was from 1957: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/13021594. Eva.dugoff (talk) 22:56, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am doing a project for my Advanced Writing class at Northeastern University and am thinking about adding information to this article. I am thinking about adding sections on other types of programs within the Affordable Care Act that have also impacted readmissions, such as the Care Based Community Transitions Program. Please let me know if you have any concerns or any suggestions on things to add. Thank you! 00

Minor Comments[edit]

This is a great topic and an excellent overview. I like that you include both the legislative piece as well as some of the measure's history. Couple of quick thoughts: 1. CMS is an "It" not a They. You could also say "The Obama Administration" if that's appropriate. 2. Consider linking to the Hospital Compare website if you haven't already. Eva.dugoff (talk) 00:29, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

HI Rebecca,

I think you selected an interesting topic and did a good job with the introduction. However, I think the introduction part could be better if you focus on why is readmission important. I know you wrote that readmission is being used as a tool for reimbursement, but it will be more helpful for readers about what readmission really means/shows and why readmission is used for reimbursement. It seems that you could move the part of when it was mentioned first to the history part. Dhjung.wisc (talk) 05:42, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Overview Comments[edit]

Hi Becca,

This is a very comprehensive overview. There's a lot to cover here. I worry a bit that this could turn into many thousands of words. To the extent reasonable, prioritize discussing 3-4 sections with some depth rather than touching on all relevant topics (e.g., current controversies).

If you haven't found this yet, here's a link to the HRRP overview page at CMS: https://www.cms.gov/medicare/medicare-fee-for-service-payment/acuteinpatientpps/readmissions-reduction-program.html. There are other pages out there though that are easier to understand.

Also, don't forget that your lead-in paragraph will preview your article discussion. The first sentence should place the Rx measure in the context of the broader field.

Hi Becca, I checked in on your sandbox today to see if you had an outline up. I'll check back in on your progress on Monday. Eva.dugoff (talk) 21:40, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Eva[reply]
