"Given the current political situation in China, it is relatively certain that Honker activities are monitored, directed and in some cases even micromanaged by the central government."

Cokerwr's own intrepretation is against the common thought about hactivitism developed in China in recent years. Hactivisim is regarded as a part of Weiquan Movement (維權運動) which is uncontrolled by the government. A few days ago, another Weichuan Movement 'poster boy' has even been prohibited from going aboard. As Wiki is not a place for showing up conspiracy theory as well as wrong interpretation, the sentence is removed. I think Cokerwr had better edit the writing style of this entry, rather than adding personal intrepretation on a topic that he is not faimilar with. --Yau 13:12, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Hong Kong and SQL Slammer

I removed the following paragraph from the article:

The name Honker has been misunderstood as indicating a relation of some kind with Hong Kong. In January 2003, the "worm" SQL Slammer appeared in the Internet. As proof of concept exploit code for the SQL Server bug utilised by SQL Slammer, written by David Litchfield, was found in the Honker Union website, it was speculated that the worm was spread by Honkers. The Associated Press misstated that Honker might be a Hong Kong hacking group, possibly due to their similar names. Though it was a mistake, Hong Kong since then has been falsely connected to Honkers in many other documents. I

I removed it because the use of the word "Honkers" to mean Hong Kong predates the SQL Slammer worm. It is in fact Australian slang which has been around for years - I first heard it on Neighbours a long time ago. I have reinstated the paragraph while rephrasing it to acknowledge that Honker already had the meaning of Hongkonger. --Voidvector (talk) 04:14, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Study of the group by Gregory Walton, the editor of the Infowar Monitor
