Non-album single[edit]

Like all of the other coronation songs by the winners/runner-ups from American Idol, this song is a non-album single. The single was released long before an album was recorded and not in promotion for the album's release. The track listing for The World from the Side of the Moon has not been released, so we do not even know if the song will be on the album. And just because a song is on an album does not mean the single is from the album. Aspects (talk) 05:21, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The track listing has been released, and "Home" is on the album, so I have to revert your edit; sorry. 68.44.51.49 (talk) 01:18, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I already addressed this above and you in no way disputed this. Aspects (talk) 02:21, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The song is clearly the lead (and only, as of yet) single from the album. The album comes out in just 20 days and there's no other single out. To compare "Home" to other Idol singles, they weren't very commercially successful, so they were just added as a bonus track and they released a new single to promote the album. He is still promoting "Home". Zac (talk · contribs) 02:41, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also, which other winner's single has a music video? Let alone months after it was released for sale, and in a general time period in which a single is released before an album. Zac (talk · contribs) 02:45, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Kelly Clarkson [1], Ruben Studdard [2], Scotty McCreery [3], all had a music video for their coronation song. This is irrelevant anyway. "Home" was first released as a track from American Idol Season Finale - Season 11 EP, so that would probably be the album it was released from. Hzh (talk) 10:42, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As a general rule, coronation songs are only included as a bonus song in the debut album, and some, such as Kris Allen and Lee DeWyze, not even as bonus track in the main release (but may only be included as bonus track in other versions). They are not really the lead single for the album (for example, the lead single from David Cook's album is "Light On", for Jordin Sparks', it's "Tattoo", etc.), the coronation songs are more of a memento for each season. That said, Interscope might be doing things differently since both Scotty's and Phillip's coronation songs are not included as a bonus song but as a main album track, so past rules may not apply. However, as mentioned, the song was first released as part of the Season Finale EP. Hzh (talk) 11:39, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just to mention, Zac, A Moment Like This & The Time of My Life were very commercially successful, but are still non-album singles. NYSMtalk page 12:55, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see that people are still fight over which album the song is released from. Personally I don't mind which is used, there are arguments for either albums, or indeed the other album (Journey to the Finale) and the EP (Season 11 Highlights) which were also released and contained the song. May be try to hash it out here first before making further changes? Hzh (talk) 01:19, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Indie folk[edit]

Two things that are absolutely hilarious:

1. Citation needed tag after genre. As though there is some academic source for what genre this is.
2. This is not indie folk. It's not indie anything. This song was written, produced and distributed by one of the largest record labels on the planet. It is the opposite of indie.
