I don't know if there is a "template" (per se) for theme parks...I only put the cleanup tag on it because there were subsections without any information in them...jut didn't look right. ---Zpb52 18:32, Jun 25, 2005 (UTC)

Formatting...[edit]

Rides shouldn't have a "the" in front of them unless the ride itself is named "The ____". Also, don't italicize ride names...put them in quotes. Only names of publications should be italicized. Also, watch your spelling and spacing. ---Zpb52 19:56, Jun 25, 2005 (UTC)

THE VOYAGE Roller Coaster Fact Sheet

DESCRIPTION: The Voyage is Holiday World's third wooden roller coaster. Located in the new Thanksgiving section, it is 1.2 miles long and provides a record 24.2 seconds of "air time." This steel-structure wooden coaster takes a twist on the standard out-and-back layout, adding a terrain-coaster adventure in the "back" half of the ride.

FEATURES: The Voyage includes a record five underground tunnels (some are double, creating eight "underground moments"), a series of dramatic drops (including a 66-degree angle of descent on the first drop), three 90-degree banked turns, and multiple track crossovers. The Voyage includes extreme air-time, extreme banking, and extreme speed.

TRACK LENGTH: 6,442 feet (1.2 miles), third longest wooden coaster in the world.

RIDE HEIGHT: The maximum height difference on The Voyage is 173 feet.

DROPS/ANGLES: The most dramatic drops on The Voyage measure 154 feet (66-degree angle of descent), 107 feet (51-degree angle), and 100 feet (50.5-degree angle). The lift hill measures 163 feet.

EXTREME AIR-TIME: The Voyage provides the most air-time of any wooden coaster: 24.2 seconds (anything less than +.25 vertical G's, average front/middle/back seats).

EXTREME BANKING: The Voyage includes three 90-degree banked turns.

SPEED: The Voyage's maximum speed is 67.4 mph. Average speed is 41.9 mph.

RIDE TIME: 2 minutes, 45 seconds (station to station).

General Manager?[edit]

I added Dan Koch as the "General Manager" in the infobox. Per the amusement park infobox template, the person in the General Manager section is the "General Manager or Chief Park Executive." Dan Koch is the chief park executive (President), hence the reason I put him in that category. However, Holiday World actually has two people with the actual title of General Manager (Matt Eckert and Mike Kamp). Is there any consensus on this? Should we leave it Dan Koch as "General Manager," change it to Matt Eckert and Mike Kamp instead, or omit it altogether?

I also plan on working on this page over the next few days, working on adding a more in-depth history section (including its beginnings with Santa Claus Land) and an expanded history of changes. OParalyzerx (talk) 20:28, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Defunct Rides "Removed" Date[edit]

This is just a note for future editors of this page that the year I have been using in the "Removed" column of the defunct rides table has been the ride's final year of operation. Information received from the park is often worded "removed following the ___ season", so it is less confusing to simply use the final year of operation, rather than the first year without the ride. For example, if a ride was added in 1950 and removed following the 2011 season (but operated for the entire 2011 season), 1950 would be used in the opened column and 2011 would be used in the removed column. If the ride was only in operation for one year, then the year will be the same in the opened and removed columns.

Owner/General Manager Discussion[edit]

You are correct, Dan Koch is not the General Manager. However, he is not the sole owner of the park either. He is the President. The "owner" of the park is the Koch Development Corporation, of which 2 to 3 members of the Koch Family run. Hence, the park is owned by the Koch Family, not just Dan. Additional proof would be when Will Koch died in 2010. The park was not "sold" to Dan Koch. Dan was simply made President. It remained in the ownership of the entire Koch family.

There are two issues with the "General Manager" discussion. The first is when you replace "general_manager" with "general_managers", it blanks the field in the infobox (i.e. it doesn't show up at all). The second is that the infobox template is made for companies with multiple parks (i.e. Six Flags) which would have a President for the chain and a general manager for each individual park. The field is intended for the "head" of that particular park. So although Mike Kamp and Matt Eckert are technically the general managers of the park, Dan Koch would be the more appropriate choice for this field given that he is the "head" of this particular park. Not to mention it would give the impression that Matt Eckert and Mike Kamp are a higher position than Dan Koch if those two were to be listed instead.

I'm not trying to turn this into an edit war, however I am undoing your previous edit. I listed my rationale here. If you (or anyone else) disagree with any points I have made, please feel free to discuss them here rather than "undoing" back and forth forever and getting no where.

^ i'm thinking you must have some old info - Dan is currently sole owner. Seems wrong to call him GM if he isn't - not to mention not naming those who have that position. Maybe changing the GM listing to President or CEO? You say the template is for companies with multiple parks - HW is the sole park owned by Koch Development, so maybe this isn't the right template to use. Where are you getting your information that Dan is the sole owner? There's a reason it's called a family-owned and operated park - because the entire family has some ownership of it. Like I said before, Dan didn't "buy" the park when Will died; the family collectively put him in charge of it. As for the infobox template, I think you misunderstand how the template works. The park (and all other amusement parks) are part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Amusement Parks, which uses the Template:Infobox amusement park for amusement parks. If you visit that link, you can see that those fields can't be changed to say whatever you want them to. If it doesn't exactly fit what's on that template, it doesn't show up in the infobox. What you will also notice under the explanation of General Manager (under "Meaning") it says "General Manager or Chief Park Executive". Dan Koch is the Chief Park Executive, hence he should be listed under the "general_manager" field, regardless of what that field lists in the infobox. By the way, I didn't mean it was ONLY intended for companies with multiple parks, I said (or at least meant) that it was made to accommodate companies with multiple parks. Bluegrass Boardwalk Inc. includes different (and some of the same) family members. However, Koch Development Corporation (Holiday World) and Bluegrass Boardwalk Inc. Historic Church Location Debate[edit]

The historic church is not located at the park. Reading the source provided in the edit (http://www.courierpress.com/news/2012/feb/08/no-headline---ev_santachurch/) shows this.

"The Deutsch Evangelische St. Paul’s Kirche, located near Santa Claus, was relocated about a half mile from its original wooded site to Santa Claus Park where it will join other historic structures from the area."

Santa Claus Park ≠ Holiday World & Splashin' Safari

"of the Koch family that owns nearby Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari."

Nearby, which indicates the church is not actually located at the park

"Joining the church in the park next week will be the original Santa Claus Post Office. The 156-year-old post office will also be moved by MCF House Movers. It had previously been in Holiday World serving as the doll museum"
