Cross Reference[edit]

Hoist (device) contains material that probably belongs here. Hoist (the disambiguation page) needs a reference here. Then, we need to untangle the mining specific stuff from the general. Most of the characteristics of winding engines apply to all hoisting engines, whether in cranes, elevator shafts or mine hoists. Douglas W. Diagram[edit]

We should add a diagram of a friction hoist as compared to a drum hoist to explain it. RJFJR (talk) 14:05, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That is a good point...I will see if I can make one up--Kelapstick (talk) 14:36, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing to say how these hoists actually work, and why drum hoists are ok, but friction hoists notif shaft part flooded. If you are an engineer like myself you can work it out but.....
