The Labour party in 1917[edit]

I'm trying to understand what 1917 represents for the Labour Party in UK. The book "The Lord of the world" by R.H Benson says " in 1917 the Labour party gathered up the reins [in England], and Communism really began"

The communism part is not what interest me, it's the "1917 the "Labour party gathered up the reins", is it true?

Three Cheers for the (Tory) Strike Breakers?[edit]

So why should a section on the Labour Party, mention how the Tories "took decisive" control of the general strike, ending it by bringing in middle-class strike-breakers and "averting violence"?

For the Labour Party (with good reason) deeply distrusted the media and lost heavily to a "public opinion" (formed by the same hostile press). They "learned a lesson" and switched to a policy of media engagement, "which proved successful in the long run"(?).

Give Wikipedia's clear rules against pushing a point of view, why does this section continue to display a blatantly pro-Tory agenda?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.149.166.212 (talk) 12:26, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
