Name change from Phoenix to Arizona[edit]

I was under the impression that the name change from "Phoenix" to "Arizona" had nothing to do with the Martin Luther King holiday, but was instead prompted by two factors: one that a business called Phoenix Cardinals, which sold skiing equipment, was already established before the relocation, and the other was objections from the City of Phoenix since they were, technically, playing outside of the city limits in Tempe (and later Glendale). I don't have the references available on those, but they were all over the local media then. Staszu13 15:13, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kurt Warner[edit]

Some dope has inserted a lot of minutae about Warner's performance in certain Cardinal losses, but has completely neglected how Warner lit it up in many crucial games, how he singlehandedly turned around the Cardinals franchise in the 2008-09 era, just like he did for the St. Louis football Rams a decade earlier, and how he achieved the third of his three all-time most Super Bowl passing yardage games for the Cardinals in SB 43. Yes, Warner threw for more yards in each of his three Super Bowls than any QB has thrown in any other SB. To be a halfway decent article, this piece needs to identify the key moments and events, and not just randomly elaborate as it does now. Jrgilb (talk) 04:57, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment comment[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:History of the Arizona Cardinals/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Needs more references (preferably inline citations), lead needs expansion (see WP:LEAD), and needs some fair use acceptable pics (free ones are ideal of course). Also has some formatting issues see History of the New York Giants for an example of a good article on the subject. Quadzilla99 01:24, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
