@Chiswick Chap: Re this revert of adding {{cleanup lang}}: This template is not for human editors to see with their eyes what language text is written in; as you point out, that's obvious. In most cases, the template doesn't even actually make any visible changes. It's needed so that screen readers will pronounce the words correctly, and so that search engines and spell checkers will treat non-English text correctly. -- Beland (talk) 17:05, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
One might well wonder why the miserably misnamed thing is called cleanup if it isn't intended as a cleanup tag. I'm glad I've never seen it before in over 10 years of editing, and with any luck I'll never see it again. Chiswick Chap (talk) 17:32, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Chiswick Chap: Well, there are lots of maintenance templates that start with "cleanup", and it's requesting that an editor clean up the bare non-English text and put it into tags, which usually also involves cleaning up italics and quoting and whatnot. If you feel the name could be improved, feel free to propose a template move. -- Beland (talk) 00:55, 25 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
