This demeans the viewpoint that irrational numbers don't exist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.212.109.131 (talk) 18:53, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So if he was murdered or exiled for his findings, how was he credited with them? Piepants 13:10, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Piepants[reply]

Commentary Book X[edit]

Is the Commentary on Book X really now attributed to Pappus? In his edition of Euclid (preface to Volume 3) T. Heath attributes it to Proclus.Rinpoche (talk) 15:45, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Heath, EE, vol. 3, p. 3 quite correctly attributes it to Pappus. Writing, I believe, in 1908, he would not have had access to the 1930 edition of June and Thompson, although he cites the summary and description of the manuscript by Woepcke (1856), who attributes the work to Vettius Valens, and later work by Heiberg and Suter, which corrected him. 2607:F010:3FE:FFEC:0:0:0:C8 (talk) 06:23, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is Junge. Sorry for the typo. 2607:F010:3FE:FFEC:0:0:0:C8 (talk) 06:24, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
