Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted because the article clearly not a candidate for speedy, player is a pro soccer player with extensive international experience. I have no clue why this was marked for speedy in the first place. --JonBroxton (talk) 23:02, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also, User:Nicweber seems to have been randomly tagging articles for speedy deletion to make a WP:POINT after an article on his brother was deleted following an AfD. This article seems to have fallen foul of his hissy fit due to it coming early in the alphabet. JonBroxton (talk) 23:12, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Delete[edit]

Please refrain from personal attacks. If you stick to the facts it will bring more credibility to your contested deletion. That being said notability is not inherited. The league MAY be notable, but Hicham Aâboubou is not. I repeat notability is NOT inherited. Just because someone plays in a notable league does not make them notable. Hicham Aâboubou has very little news written about him. Most of the articles are about the teams he plays on with his named only mentioned in passing. The team he plays for listing a bio of him on their website does not qualify as a source.

It appears that the creator of this page is trying to make a WP:POINT. As opposed to demonstrating the sources. I get no hits when I enter his name into google news. The league and/or team MAY be notable. But Hicham Aâboubou is not. Nicweber (talk) 06:58, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hicham Aâboubou is notable because he is a professional soccer player who has played numerous competitive games for a several professional teams, and as such passes WP:NSPORT. There's nothing else to be said. JonBroxton (talk) 07:08, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Show me some sources. Right now I can't find anything when I search google news. Nicweber (talk) 07:33, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly you don't know how to use Google News because I get tons. The very first one is {http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/Impact+upbeat+despite+several+injuries/4586730/story.html], which is about how Montreal are currently struggling, partly because of Aaboubou being out because of injury.
